Bouwfonds Investment Management announces the second closing of the Bouwfonds European Student Housing Fund. In the second closing Bouwfonds IM raised new commitments of EUR 110 million. The second closing follows the first closing with EUR 70 million equity from the founding investors.

Since its launch in 2013 the Bouwfonds European Student Housing Fund has acquired 4 student housing assets across the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Germany. “We have invested in student housing before and our current portfolio of close to 4000 units is performing very well, highlighting that student housing investments offer stable and secured cash flows,” says Xavier Jongen, Fund Director Bouwfonds European Residential Funds. “We can fulfill demand from institutional clients with our European-wide investment strategy and thus participate in growing the asset class further. Offering safe and affordable student housing brings down the total cost of education for families, thus making it a sensible contribution to better education.”

The first acquisition that Bouwfonds IM acquired for the Bouwfonds European Student Housing Fund won the 2014 RICS Scotland Award “Best Residential Project of the Year”. Moreover, Bouwfonds IM recently published an article with interesting facts about the latest developments in the European student housing sector, entitled: “Assessing opportunities for investing in European student housing”.
